Delayed immediate implant placement

In this protocol , dental implants are placed 4 to 6 weeks after tooth extraction instead of immediately .

This is usually done in the aesthetic zone, as by delaying implant placement for a few weeks , will allow more gum tissue to form . With more gum tissue available, the bone grafting and aesthetic outcome will be superior to immediate tooth implant into extraction sockets

Immediately after tooth extraction: note the lack of gum tissue

6 weeks after tooth extraction: note the increase in amount of gum tissues
